XchangeIT for Newsagents - Important Announcement

As most newsagents are aware, XchangeIT has been rolling out their new XchangeIT Link e-commerce interface software over the past few months. With the recent success of this ‘roll out’ and with the dramatically improved facilities available to newsagents via the new XchangeIT Link in streamlining the magazine supply and return process, XchangeIT announced on Friday, 13 November 2009 that the “old” XchangeIT software will be “turned off” by the end of December 2009. This announcement has several important implications for newsagents that are still using the “old” XchangeIT. Some of these are as follows:

  • All newsagents currently using the “old” XchangeIT software will need to download and install the “new” XchangeIT Link Software by the end of December.
  • The “new” XchangeIT Link Software will not work on the Windows 98 ® operating system. Many newsagents still using old and outdated DOS Point of Sale Software eg. the POS Solutions DOS Software, will need to install Microsoft Windows ® XP Pro or later. This could have further ramifications as the computer hardware often used will have be of the same vintage as Windows 98 ® and hence will not be adequate for Windows ® XP Pro.

The suggested solution for newsagents needing to upgrade to the new XchangeIT Link that currently use old DOS Software is to upgrade their POS Software and Hardware to the Access POS Newsagency POS System. Access POS in conjunction with industry suppliers have put together a discounted POS Package that newsagents can take advantage of until 31 December 2009. Further details can be found via the following link, XchangeIT POS System Promotion. Or download a brochure, XchangeIT POS System Brochure.

“I have been using the new XchangeIT Link for a month now and find it far superior to the old version. The new interface streamlines the software even more and saves me more time. It is easier to use and I had no problems installing it into my Access POS Software.

A major benefit I find is not having to dial in for magazine invoices or returns. They are downloaded automatically. I also get messages showing that the returns files have been sent and received by the distributor plus any messages showing server downtime so I know what is happening at all times.

The biggest benefit of all is with my Network Services Supplementary Returns. Before I had to gather the returns and enter them through Netonline which meant taking them out of stock in my Access POS Software and entering them into NETonline. Now I just do early and late supplementary returns through my Access POS Software and it is automatically sent off and credited. This saves me a lot of time and money.”
