Synopsis: The Access POS Software is the only supplier of Newsagency POS Software that has 100% XchangeIT file Integrity. To help move more Australian Newsagents into industry compliant Newsagency Software, Access POS will promote a special offer next week to newsagents currently using the Tower Systems Software as well as the now defunct NewsPOS Software Company, to help them switch to 100% file integrity compliant Newsagency POS Software.

Access POS is pleased to announce that is is the only Australian supplier of Newsagency POS Software that has 100% XchangeIT file integrity.

Mr. Chris Leach, CEO of XchangeIT Magazine Management System, has today provided Access POS with XchangeIT test results based on it's newsagency customers file integrity which confirmed Access POS as the only supplier with 100% compliant Newsagency POS Software as far as file integrity to Gordon & Gotch, Network and Fairfax via XchangeIT Software.

To help move more Australian Newsagents into 100% file integrity compliant Newsagency POS Software, Access POS will promote a special offer next week to newsagents currently using the Tower Systems Software as well as the now defunct NewsPOS Software Company, to help them switch to fully compliant Newsagency POS Software.

Non XchangeIT file integrity compliant Newsagency POS Software is a drag on the industry. It makes newsagents have to work harder. Newsagents work hard enough as it is, so easy terms to switch their Tower POS Software to Access POS will be welcome news to many.

About XchangeIT

XchangeIT is an industry initiative run by magazine distributors (Gordon & Gotch, Network Services and Fairfax). The primary purpose is to reduce supply chain costs between magazine distributor and newsagent by resolving common data related challenges in the newsagent channel. This takes the form of "electronic" delivery of magazine invoice files as well as allowing newsagents to process returns via compliant POS Software. Currently, almost 2,500 newsagents use the XchangeIT System each week. John Sands is also a distribution partner.

The XchangeIT fortnightly compliance report (25 May to 7 June) was released today. Access POS is pleased to announce a zero (0%) percentage failure rate for it's newsagency customers. How did Tower Systems go Mark?

Geoffrey, Tower Systems does not charge and has not charged $2,500 for support as you say. Supported users are not charged for calls not relating to us.

We are not aggressive at all. Indeed, we provide a window of completely free support even on calls relating to hardware and software not provided by us.

Hello Mark. As you are the owner of Tower Systems I have allowed your comment to be posted as a "right of reply" to this newsagent. I did not read that the newsagent suggested that they paid $2500.00 for six months. I think they suggested that it was for twelve months but six months into the agreement they were faced with the additional credit card charge. Well that is the way I read it!

Mark, just leaving the comments from the newsagent aside for one moment I have seen with my own eyes invoices for $2500.00 per annum. I do admitt they you had offered a 20% discount if the customer paid by the due date. I think the main whinge this newsagent has is that he thought it was unfair by Tower to charge him additional fees on his credit card that you had on file when he was a supported customer.

Mark, you know as well as I do, a huge volume of support calls received do not technically have anything to do with the actual POS Software. I would estimate that 50% if not higher that come into Access POS would fall into this category. Although we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for this type of call I could count on one hand using my thumb the number of times we have charged an additional fee to a supported customer in the last 10 years.

From what I understand, Tower is very aggressive when it comes to additional charges and in fact charges around $176.00 for the first 15 minutes of a phone call. Mark, I will provide you your "right of reply" if you wish to dispute or add to this. If you do dispute it and I have printed documentation from Tower Systems that proves it I will post it for all to see. Your call.

Tower Systems has never charged $2,500 for support for a year let alone six months. Newsagents pay between $700 and $1700 (inc GST) depending on the software they have. Support is optional.

Yes, I have heard this about Tower Systems all too often. They charge you big dollars for the most minor issue if they do not see it directly relating to their software.

I switched from Tower Systems to Access POS. The main reason was that I called Tower Systems to ask them for a quote on moving the software data to a new computer I purchased. I expected to pay for this but to my shock a received a charge on my credit card for calling them just to discuss transferring the data. They had my credit card number. It was around $170.00. I even had software support for 12 months that I had paid 6 months previously which cost $2500.00. The switch to Access POS was the best thing I have done.
