The following optional software modules can be added to the core Retail Manager POS System.

Home Delivery

News Manager offers a comprehensive Home Deliveries module. New home delivery customers can be quickly setup from either the back office computer or by your POS operator. The entering of delivery data is made easy by the use of preset keys for publications. This preset information can be easily changed to suit your particular requirements.

The POS screen has a 'Customer Enquire' button allowing standing order alterations, stop / start entries, view and print customer history and or statements. In addition, account payments can be made by weekly amounts, to a date, to next Sunday, set amount, current balance and last statement balance. Naturally, standing order adjustments can be made as well.

When processing the daily run you can either view or print run sheets, stop / start and wrap lists. No charge and reverse runs can be done if required. Naturally, multiple runs are also accommodated.

Subagents

News Manager streamlines your day to day transactions with your subagents; which includes adjusting standing orders, processing daily runs, applying any returns or extras and issuing invoices etc. Access POS has developed the Subagents module so it mimics, were possible, the terminology, screen layout and routine of the Home Delivery module. This promotes greater user satisfaction amongst current staff and faster training of new staff.

Subagent discounts can either be set as "across the board" or per individual product category. eg. Magazine Management

The News Manager Magazine Management module, in many respects is the 'heart' of the News Manager POS System. Access POS as developed it's own interface that communicates via XchangeIT which in turn connects to the three main magazine distributors (GG, Network & NDD) for the purpose of downloading 'electronic' invoice files and enabling 'electronic' returns to be processed directly from the News Manager Software (XchangeIT is a company formed by the three distributors to allow electronic commerce between themselves and newsagents).

After invoice files are downloaded, you import then process them into News Manager. As this is done, put-aways are allocated with automatic email reminders sent to your customers, Subagent orders are charged then posted on the delivery slip and shop stock is allocated. Labels appropriate for each of the processes are automatically printed. Magazine labels are used with an issue specific barcode and other relevant information printed (eg. Return Dates etc)to assist in controlling magazine 'movement' up until the return stage for unsold stock.

'Electronic' return files are sent (Gordon and Gotch - Weekly) which details all issues that have reached their recall date. Once imported, the recall list can then be printed which includes your current stock on hand as calculated by News Manager. This enables you to accurately retrieve all unsold stock which is then scanned into News Manager as returns, then subsequent return forms printed and electronically sent back to the distributor for credits to be applied.

Customer Loyalty

The Customer Loyalty program works on an automated reward points system. In designing the loyalty program, flexibility and ease of use were the main criteria. Either the accrual or redemption of points can be based on product categories, sub categories or individual items. Added flexibility is provided by allowing different product groups or items that can accrue points as against those available for points redemption. eg. A Convenience Store may set up a magazine loyalty program that allows its’ customers to accrue points on magazine purchases but only allow the redemption of points (Discounts applied) on drinks. Almost any combination is possible.

When a new loyalty customer is added to the system a unique barcode label is produced that is adhered to the loyalty card*. This card is then used by the customer with each purchase and points redemption. The card can be scanned at any point within the sale. The Customers name, previously accrued points and card number are displayed to the POS operator. A welcome message "Welcome back Mr. Smith" can be displayed on a customer pole display. As each new item is registered, the additional points that will be accrued or the required points needed to redeem each dollar of discount are displayed. The receipt given to a loyalty customer, apart from the normal purchase detail, shows the previous points balance, points earned from the current transaction, number of points used for redemption (if any) and the new points total.

Individual or bulk loyalty statements can either be printed or emailed. Loyalty statements detail all transactions for the nominated period including points accrued, points redeemed and points lost if the points expiration option is used.

The addition of the Customer Loyalty Software module could provide you with a great tool to enhance your business.

* A barcode label printer is required to print Customer Loyalty labels. This same printer can also be used for printing product and shelf labels.

Officesmart

News Manager offers a specialised module that allows the import of the Officesmart catalogue stock list. Catalogue "special" pricing is stored separately to standard pricing, which is used when processing customer orders. Many 'OfficeSmart Newsagents' like to treat OfficeSmart Stationery as a 'mini business' within their overall business, hence News Manager allows customised invoice formating to promote this.

Lay-By

In todays competitive retail environment, offering a point of difference is often vital in your attempts to attract new customers. Offering your customers a Lay-By service could just be that point of difference that makes a difference!

News Manager offers a comprehensive Lay-By module that will enable you to confidently process and manage your Lay-By customers. Lay-By deposit %, Cancellation %, Lay-By Term (In Days), Printed Terms and Conditions and Storage Locations can all be preset. When processing Lay-By transactions, customer name, address, contact details and purchase item(s) are entered. The required deposit is automatically calculated. A customer receipt is printed detailing Lay-By item(s), deposit paid, balance outstanding, Lay-By terms and conditions and a unique barcode to enable easy customer tracking and recall on subsequent visits. A shop copy receipt is also printed that can be attached to stored Lay-By item(s). A complete purchase and payment history is also recorded for each customer.

EFTPOS Integration

The News Manager POS System allows EFTPOS Integration to all major Australian banks. By linking your POS terminal to the EFTPOS unit, the transaction total is automatically sent into the EFTPOS machine avoiding the need to re-key the transaction total. This not only saves valuable time but also ensures transaction accuracy. Debit Card "Cash Out" is also supported.
