Canberra City Restaurant opens with Wireless Handheld Order Taking POS System

Access POS is very pleased to have been selected as the POS provider for Canberra’s latest upmarket restaurant and bar night spot. Located on the “Savvy side of Civic”, Playground Martini & Tapas Bar have installed the Aloha POS System with wireless order taking handheld units which will allow the venue to serve customers without them having to venture from the comfortable lounge setting and or outdoor service areas.

The Aloha POS System installed consists of a back office computer with Aloha Manager installed which provides management with sales analysis, menu maintenance and employee time and attendance control. Two “fixed” Aloha POS order entry terminals have been installed within the bar area with a kitchen printer attached. Three Apple iPod © wireless handheld ordering units connect to the fixed terminals utilising an Apple © airport extreme wireless access point.

The management of Playground Martini & Tapas Bar wanted to create an atmosphere of sophistication. A place where their customers can relax and enjoy fine food and choose a drink from an exotic list of Martini’s, Beer and Cider. There’ll also be a pretty serious international and local wine selection available. With the use of the wireless handheld ordering system, customers can be served without them having to move from their comfortable surround within the “Playground” venue.

Opening Night Review from "The Canberran"

Well opening night has been and gone ,,,,,, a real success from all reports. A fantastic review of "Playground Martini & Tapas Bar" was featured on the front page of "The Canberran" - Playground - Opening Night. Apart from the rave reviews, Access POS was especially interested in the comments made in regards to the iPod Touch Restaurant ordering system.

"We managed to distract a waitress from her phone and asked to order a couple of the tapas plates (Haloumi Soldiers with Chargrilled Tomato Puree, $13.00 and Chilli Pig Skin Crackling, $10.00). Initially annoyed by the attention she was paying to her phone instead of keeping an eye on the customers, we had to retract when it was evident the iPod Touch in her hand was in fact the ordering system. Upon hearing our request she scrolled through the menu, tapped to enter our order, smiled, and left us to our own devices.
